Security forces tried to prevent the ceremony by threating Yarsan activists and pouring soil by truck on the road leading to the venue of the ceremony.
Mohammad Ghanbari, a member of Ahl-e Haqq (Yarsan) who set himself on fire in front of the Islamic Parliament to protest against the government’s failure to address the grievances of this religious minority on July 27, 2013, died in Motahari hospital.
Participants gathered at the tomb of Mohammad Ghanbari demanding the recognition of this religion in Iran among the official religions in the constitution.
